Aquarius
January 20 – February 18
“I Innovate”
Loves new technology, innovative, ahead of her time, scientific, inventive and imaginative with the sciences, intellectual, futuristic, charitable, and humanitarian.
Aquarius is all things that start with “I”: individual, independent, imaginative, innovative and even a little idiosyncratic—and that’s what everyone loves about you. You’re the rule breaker of the zodiac, for your job is to question traditional methods.
Your sign is against social climbing—it offends your democratic approach to life (“All for one and one for all.”). While others would avoid being called a bit of an oddball, as an Aquarius, you wear your quirky label as a badge of honor. You ask, “Who wants to be thought of as vanilla?” What others think of you doesn’t matter to you. You carry your own yardstick for success, for you march to a different drummer. Aquarius is a fixed sign, meaning you like stability. Once your partner has your heart, you will likely stay loyal forever.
Air – intellectual, probing, questioning, uses Scientific Method of analysis for everything life—keep eliminating until the solution appears.
Uranus – planet of rebellion and the iconoclast, but also the planet of pure genius and all that is newly invented. The ancient ruler of Aquarius was Saturn, which gives Aquarius discipline and persistence to accomplish her goal.
Fuchsia and hot pink, clear, electric or iridescent blues, bright turquoise, charcoal gray.
Wild orchids, tulips, hydrangea, daffodil, anemones, hyacinth, and for her garden, Sweet Alyssum’s Carpet of Snow.
Amethyst.
As a rule, Aquarians like to live in big cities where they can be near their many friends and interests. You want your home or apartment to be eco-friendly, energy efficient, use alternative sources of energy, such as solar, and one that promotes a healthy environment. It goes without saying it should be smoke free. The décor should be green or made of sustainable materials.
Many city high-rises offer a roof garden and grow organic vegetables, herbs, and flowers, and sometimes the tenants help with its care—you would love living in a city building like that.
Inside your home, most Aquarians love monochromatic color schemes, but always with a futuristic twist. Consider metallic silver and gold, electric or fluorescent shades of blue, green, violet, purple, or hot pink. Aquarius particularly loves violet and electric blue, contrasted with deep charcoal grey. Monochromatic color schemes would likely appeal to you. Rather than cut flowers in water, you would prize a white orchid plant, and that is the flower your sign rules.
To give character to one room, you might like a small neon sign with words spelled out in print or script, like “Eat” in your kitchen, “Diana’s Chateaux” in the foyer, or your child’s name, “Otis” in neon in his playroom or bedroom.
You expect that your home will offer adequate electrical wiring for as the futuristic sign, you will want your space to offer the latest and greatest electronic technology. You will want window shades that lift and lower with a remote control and lights that go on as you enter the room and off as you leave it. You want security, audio, TV, and computer systems that are state of the art.
Your décor will feature furniture that is modern and could be considered pieces of art (possibly made by friends who are artists or artisan carpenters). When you are almost finished, include metallic touches, perhaps used on throw pillows, or unusual, modern prints would be very expressive of your individuality. You love modern art, so choose a painting or a poster and have it framed—it would go perfectly with your décor.
Your role as iconoclast means you can feel free to choose china that fully expresses your individuality and that is unique and memorable in every way. A Fornasetti Wall Plate is a perfect example of how artfully you can break the mold. To bring out the black and white of the plate, use a black stone presentation plate by Deshoulieres. A small oval plate by Hermes shows you can mix and match designers and make it work perfectly.
The same is true of your glassware, with the Vega Highball Baccarat glasses working ideally with the Alto wine glasses. When a pattern is interesting, such as the face on the Fornasetti plates, keep the crystal simple but beautiful. Top it off with white shimmer linen napkins and a granite place mat. For candle holders, again, you need not be traditional—the Bow Candle Holder by Philippi fits the bill. You will need flowers—the clear grey vase by Hursch will pick up the grey tones in your china, and let your menu be the star.
Kerry Washington, Jennifer Aniston, Alicia Keyes, Oprah, Shakira, Paris Hilton, and Laura Linney.
Going to the Apple store excites you—you love to hang out there. Aquarius loves to be among computers, new software, new products, especially if they are electronic. What fun! Go together with your partner and enjoy getting up to date on new offerings. You always buy your holiday gifts and attendant’s gifts there—who, you ask, wouldn’t want anything but an electronic item? You are so good at using new technology that you will find ways to incorporate your knowledge into planning your wedding, right down to the invitations.
The ankles and shins.
As an Aquarian, you wonder why people spend so much money on four- and five-star restaurants that charge so much money. You like simply prepared foods, so going to a diner suits you perfectly. Many Aquarians are vegetarians, so for your wedding, you would be sure to appeal to guests with dietary needs. When you are on your computer (your favorite place to be), you forget to eat, so hopefully your partner or co-workers will remind you to get some nourishment.
A honeymoon that takes you to the great outdoors that is a bit off the beaten track would be a good choice. Look into going to Alaska (perhaps on a cruise), the Canadian Rockies, or visit one of the great national parks, such as Yosemite, Yellowstone, The Grand Canyon, Zion or Brice Canyon National Parks, or go to Monument Valley.
As an Aquarian, you don’t need a five-star hotel like Leo would. An inexpensive lodging would be fine for it would allow you to travel longer or to more distant cities. If you want to travel farther, you might want to explore the Swiss Alps or travel through Chile, Guatemala, or Peru. If you like, bring your telescope as you will be able to see the stars clearly when away from city lights. Aquarius is always politically aware, so consider going to Russia, Cuba, China, or Hong Kong to learn more about the cultures there.
